Love has no gender

Imagine you have met the most wonderful person. They fill your life with joy and laughter. You enjoy everything about them. The only thing you want from them now is to spend the rest of your life with them. To join hands in marriage.

Now let me destroy that image. That is what the government has done. Why should love be illegal? Your ancestors protested and died for your rights and for the pursuit of happiness. Now, in a perfect world you would be able to marry that person you love, but this world is nowhere near perfect. This is the cruel and harsh reality of a gay or lesbian couple.

I will no longer sit in the background and stay silent! I will not be silenced and watch my friends and family be denied their American right. It is 2015, not 1912. I believe that the government should stay in the White House, where they belong, and not at a wedding.

According to statistics 15% of women are lesbian. 15% of men are gay. That makes 30% of America’s population homosexual. If America is known as the “land of the free”, then why is it illegal for people of the same-sex to get married? If there are two men getting married in North Dakota will it affect your life here in California? No! Just because YOU don’t like something, that doesn’t mean everyone should hate it too. I don’t like avocados, does that mean that every store should stop selling avocados? No, it just means I don’t buy any.

The only arguments against gay marriage are illogical. One of the main reasons about gay marriage is that it is an abomination and should be between and man and a woman. Now too long ago, marriage was defied as a union of two people of the same race.

Imagine another picture: Imagine the lonely, loveless, walls of an orphanage. The of tears from parent-less children bouncing off the wall. A child who has not been poisoned by the prejudice doesn’t see two men or two women, they see a family. They see two people who love them. Most adoption laws, among other things, require a married couple. Leaving hundreds of orphans without parents just because gay marriage is not yet, legal in every state. Who are they to deny a life of happiness for not only a child but an American couple?

  1. This was a really good blog post! It’s sad that it’s 2015 and there’s restrictions on MARRIAGE. We’re living in a world where people are telling you who you can and cannot love.
    Very nice writing, good job.

  2. I totally agree with you. What people do for their own happiness has no effect on your life at all. The government restricting that freedom is just plain rude and unjust. It’s 2015 and people still live like it’s the 19th century.
